Introduction to Financial Accounting: A User Perspective, 3rd Edition, Michael L. Werner

An excellent introduction to financial accounting, this book informs the reader about its significant role in making sound business decisions. With its concentration on the uses of financial accounting rather than on the preparation of accounting information, the authors present the information in a manner that makes the topic readily available for use in a broad number of ways. This complete and easy to understand financial accounting book covers the following topics briefly, yet comprehensively: economic decision-making and business in the United States; balance sheets; income statements and statements of owners' equity; economic management; the accounting system; long-lived depreciable assets; inventory accounting; cash flow statements; and a close look at financial statement analysis. For readers needing a book that will allow them a basic understanding of financial accounting.

I had to purchase this book for an Accounting Class and it has been helpful in understanding concepts. Every chapter starts off with a story that helps you grasp what you'll be learning about and what objectives will be touched. After every section there is a discussion question that gets you involved in the learning process. There are plenty of examples, figures and tables and a lot of questions that at the end of the chapter to help you apply what you've learned. The book is very readable and interesting! Instead of selling it, I plan on keeping it in my personal library.

This is truly a great book. It has thorough definitions of terms and examples of 99.9% of those terms. It covers a broad amount of material for an intro book, and makes little notes like "this is out of the scope of this text" when you know it is just making reference to a subject that you would be studying in more advanced accounting courses Included in the back of the book.

The only thing I would have liked to have would be a solution section with odd numbered solutions to the statements/problems. It is one thing to do that work and the calculations, but another to know if you have gotten the correct answer.

I was a little late to order my book (only a couple of days before the class started) but it made here on time and in perfect condition. Excellent service! I will definetely use them in my next purchase.

This book was referred to extensively in my graduate Accounting class. I felt it was helpful for someone with no Accounting background.
